ABA therapy, which stands for Applied Behavior Analysis, is a scientific approach aimed at understanding various behaviors. This method of therapy employs evidence-based interventions to improve or alter specific behaviors. ABA therapy can be particularly beneficial for individuals with Autism, helping to enhance skills such as social interactions, reading, academics, and communication. Additionally, it supports the development of learned skills like grooming, hygiene, fine motor dexterity, and job proficiency through structured therapy sessions.
ABA services offered include:
- One-on-one clinic sessions
- In-Home Therapy
- Verbal Behavior Therapy
- Early Intervention Program
- Monthly consultations with a BCBA/BCaBA
- Toilet Training
- Social Groups
- Parent Training
- Behavior management
- Sensory Desensitization Programs
- School Shadowing (some restrictions may apply depending on your child's school)
For those seeking comprehensive support, integrating occupational therapy and speech therapy can further enhance the effectiveness of ABA therapy.
Phone consultation for ABA therapy begins with completing an intake form and submitting the necessary documents. We will verify your benefits and eligibility for applied behavior analysis services. During the consultation, we meet with parents, guardians, and/or caretakers to gather a comprehensive history and better understand any concerns related to Autism. An assessment will be conducted with a BCBA or BCaBA. Our trained and qualified providers will then develop an individualized Treatment Plan tailored to your child's specific needs. A pre-authorization form, along with a copy of the preliminary treatment plan, is submitted to your insurance. The number of hours requested for ABA therapy will vary and is personalized based on the unique requirements of your child, which may also involve occupational therapy and speech therapy as needed.
Once we receive approval, your child will be assigned a behavior technician (BT/RBT) who will begin 1:1 pairing with your child, crucial for building a strong foundation in ABA therapy. Once pairing is complete, we will implement 1:1 Comprehensive ABA Treatment, which is based on applied behavior analysis principles. Throughout this process, your child's progress is tracked daily, and ongoing assessments are utilized for new skill development, particularly for children with Autism. Additionally, we provide family support, training, and guidance throughout the treatment, ensuring a holistic approach alongside any occupational therapy or speech therapy your child may need.
*Please note, the pairing process is essential in developing a fun, working relationship with our clients. The purpose of pairing is to establish yourself as the ultimate reinforcer — the giver of all good things. To establish this rapport, there are two key rules to follow: provide reinforcement and limit demands.
The pairing process can take anywhere from 1-3 weeks.
Parent training or coaching will begin at the onset of ABA therapy, which is rooted in applied behavior analysis. This process involves monthly meetings with your child's BCBA. As your child progresses through therapy, including any necessary occupational therapy or speech therapy, direct treatment may be faded out, allowing the child to 'graduate' from therapy! Even after graduation, parent training may continue to ensure that progress is maintained and to provide solutions as new challenges related to Autism emerge.
