Pediatric speech therapy addresses challenges with language and communication, which can be particularly important for children with Autism. Communication and other speech-related challenges vary amongst individuals, and our goal is to help each person communicate in more useful and functional ways. In addition to speech therapy, we also recognize the value of ABA therapy and occupational therapy to support overall development.
Our speech therapy programs start with an intake evaluation, followed by an assessment by our speech-language pathologist (SLP), who evaluates the individual’s communication strengths and challenges. From this thorough evaluation, the SLP develops a personalized plan of care that may also incorporate elements of applied behavior analysis to enhance communication skills.
Family Beeginnings follows a multidisciplinary-integrated service model for the treatment of our clients, incorporating speech therapy, occupational therapy, and ABA therapy. These therapies overlap in many areas, particularly in the context of applied behavior analysis, due to the interconnectedness of the different parts of the human body. Our SLP, OT, and BCBA/BCaBA work closely together to focus on maximizing functional progress during therapy sessions, ultimately helping clients with Autism transfer new skills into home, community, or school settings.
